Caring for the Caregiver

Caring for the Caregiver is a new ministry at ORLC. We recognized the lack of support available for family caregivers in the area, and also the growing number of families involved in caring for loved ones of all ages. The elderly, the chronically ill or disabled, the special needs children all often require increased care from family members. Frequently caregivers must juggle other family responsibilities, jobs, school, upkeep of property, and multiple other daily activities. Many caregivers have little time or energy left for their own needs. At times caregivers may not know all the options and resources available, or ways to cope with their unique situations. For these reasons we are offering a caregiver support group which meets twice a month.

Our meetings are informal and supportive, sharing information and ideas, education on related topics, and help in learning about available resources. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 6:30pm to 8pm in the church library. Each meeting is complete in itself so drop ins are always welcome.

We have three co-facilitators, Donna and Pat, both RNs, and Renee who has much experience in Long Term Care and Hospice. If you are a family caregiver, please join us as we meet to support YOU!!

Join us for the Heart of Caregiving Seminar on Saturday, April 21. Download the Heart of Caregiving Flyer.
